From Proof of Work to Proof of Stake : An in-depth look at the merger of Ethereum

The Merge คืออะไร

The merger is a major upgrade of Ethereum that was completed in September 2022, which changed the network security mechanism from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS).

Ethereum uses the same method as Bitcoin is PoW, which allows players to compete with specific hardware to solve mathematical problems. Whoever wins will be added to the next block and receive a prize in return

Why did you have to switch to Proof of Stake ?

Under the PoS system, the network no longer relies on hackers but instead uses what is called "Verus" ( validator ), which requires ETH to be locked as collateral and therefore selected for submitting and reviewing blocks. If validator commits a malicious act, some of those blocks will be cut off. This mechanism acts in place of "hardware and electricity capital costs", which used to be an incentive to do so directly into the PoW system.

The most talked-about reason is energy, as the figure of Ethereum Foundation revealed during a period close to the upgrade. This change reduced the overall power consumption of the network by about 99.9% since there was no need for heavy machinery that consumed electricity continuously working to keep the chain safe again.

How to contact the general public

For general users including those who hold ETH through a Thai exchange website such as Bitkub or personal wallet The Merge It hasn't changed. How to use the app Wallet or Smart Account Bet money remaining at your address and all business history is taken back as normal What has changed is only how you create and maintain a new blog

Note: This article describes upgrades to protocols that occurred in the past, not investment advice.
