JPMorgan reveals Bitcoin vessels have exceeded their drilling capital for the first time in 280 days.

JPMorgan reports that the price of Bitcoin has surpassed mining capital for the first time in about 280 days, a sign analysts around the world are seeing could change crypto-mining firms' behavior significantly.

JPMorgan เผย Bitcoin ทะยานเกินต้นทุนการขุดเป็นครั้งแรกใน 280 วัน ตลาดจับตามองว่านักขุดจะลดแรงกดดันการขายหรือไม่

What is this event?

The cost of mining refers to the approximate price that a company pays for producing one Bitcoin, including electricity and maintenance costs as well as operating expenses. When market prices fall below this linear cost, miners lose money, but when they rise above it, the business becomes profitable again.

JPMorgan notes that this is the first time in 280 days that Bitcoin's price has been above its mining cost, meaning for nearly nine months most miners have had to operate under pressure.

Why is this important?

Mining companies are big sellers in the Bitcoin market, because they're getting new coins all the time and have to sell them out to bring money to pay for electricity and operating costs.

At times when prices are below cost, some miners have to sell at a loss just to keep their turnover.

Now if the price returns above its cost, miners no longer have to sell at a disadvantage. The hypothesis that markets are bullish according to JPMorgan is that sales from the mining camp will slow down, so supply pressure naturally decreases.

How does that affect the general investor?

For Bitcoin holders, or traders on exchanges like Bitkub that use the THB benchmark, miner behavior is a supply factor to watch out for because new coins are pouring into the market every day.

However, exceeding the cost of mining does not guarantee that miners will stop selling because each company has different costs and cash management plans. Some with debt or needing to invest in new equipment may still sell as well, so keep an eye on sales data from listed companies.

What should we be looking for?

  • The profits and coin sales figures of mining companies listed on the US stock exchange, released through quarterly reports.
  • The continuity of the bitcoin price relative to the mining cost level is how long it's going to stay above this line.
  • It's the cost of power and hardware that can change the price per coin.

So this JPMorgan report is a big change of scenery: from almost nine months in which business was booming, to when there's been some breathing space and the market has begun to reflect better buying power.
