What's going on?
Summer Mersinger, executive chair of the blockchain Association, one of the most influential advocacy groups in the U.S., is leaving her position with an official announcement on Friday.
The interim replacement is Kristin Smith, the organization's founder and first CEO, who had led the association since its launch in 2018 until 15 months ago.
Why does it have to be this time?
This change in leadership came just one week after the U.S. crypto industry suffered a major legal setback when the United States Senate was unable to pass Bill digital asset , the Market Clarity Act, by an overwhelming vote of no confidence as all Democratic senators and some Republican members withdrew their support.
Previously, Mersinger had served on the board of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) prior to taking a job at blockchain Association. Her tenure was marked by significant victories in Washington and major defeats last week.
How important to the industry
In a statement, Mersinger stated that "I am proud of the progress we have made together since drafting the GENIUS Act until actual legal clarity from SEC and the CFTC".
She also said of the receivers, "Kristin built this league up from scratch and BA is in good hands. I'll hire them from behind".
What do you mean?
The change in leadership of a major policy lobbying group such as the blockchain Association reflects that the U.S. crypto industry is undergoing a period of strategic adjustment after no clear regulatory path for digital assets has yet emerged.
Although such political sanctions occur in the United States directly, investors and users in Thailand have reason to be wary because U.S. legal guidelines often influence regulatory standards in other countries including Taiwan's Supervisory Board the SEC (Thailand) and US Treasury Department policies affecting global markets, especially as a major legislative shift in Washington is not yet complete. These uncertainties will also impact market performance in the Asian region further
