What is this?
A report from CoinGlass identifies the position structure of high-value accounts on hyperliquid as of 26th, grouping whale accounts according to criteria for holding positions worth more than $1 million. The total value of positions in this group is equal to 9,464 million dollars or approximately 12.84 trillion South Korean won and a ratio of short side over long side.5.78 Percentage points
Key figures from CoinGlass.
The long side is valued at 4,458 million dollars, or approximately 6.05 trillion South Korean won estimated.47.11%
The short side is valued at 5,050 million dollars or approximately 6.79 trillion South Korean won accounting for 52.89%
The difference between short and long is 5.78 percentage points.
CoinGlass' data covers position size, entry price, washed-out port leverage and unrealized capital gains/losses. The collection criteria are specified in the public API documentation of CoinGlas.
Why look at the proportions of shorts and longs?
For derivatives, a leveraged contract allows the value of large positions to be controlled by smaller collateral. If the market moves aggressively, the position holder may be forced to close at a price that is washed out of port; being short over long therefore gives an overall picture of the strength of one side's position over the other but does not automatically dictate its direction.
Long side is an upside position, short side is a downside position. When combined with more than $1 million worth of whale accounts, this set of numbers gives you insight into what the market structure looks like at that moment in time and can be read along with other information such as buying volumes, interest rates and news items affecting liquidity.
Effect on readers in the Thai context
Values reported in U.S. dollars and South Korean won are calculated by Thai market watchers as the baht, so they must be converted at self-checked exchange rates over time. This data is not an estimate of platform status in Thailand because hyperliquidity and domestic platforms have different access, regulation and product requirements.
If a reader uses an in-country platform such as Bitcube or services under the supervision of GTL, users can verify beforehand that they are buying real assets, purchasing derivative products, or trading on this data-linked platform due to various leverage conditions, port clearance and fees.
The limitations of the data.
The CoinGlass numbers are compiled according to stated criteria and use data as of the 26th only, so it is a snapshot of a given time period rather than all market constants. Seeing short over long.5.78 A percentage point does not mean that price will go down or see long.4,458 Millions of dollars do not mean prices will go up
Whale readings are therefore only a piece of the derivative market, not an isolated signal, and CoinGlass' public API documentation helps to understand how whale accounting is defined, what data it covers, and which criteria are used in calculating its total value.9,464 Millions of dollars
A word of caution.
This article is a summary of the data, not an investment recommendation. Cryptocurrency prices have high volatility, educate and make rational decisions.
