Kraken expanding into the UAE after Dubai's final regulatory hurdle.

Kraken is set to launch a digital asset service in the United Arab Emirates after Dubai's Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority approved its final entry into the market. Such approval paves the way for Payward, Kraken's parent company, to operate as a regulated digital asset provider in Dubai and cater to retail clients, professional investors and institutional investors in the region.

Approve final action after the initial green light.

The latest approval marks the final step of Dubai's Digital Asset Supervision Authority (DSA) licensing process, with Payward having previously received preliminary approval in May,[8] which paved the way for the company to get its operational infrastructure ready before accepting customers into the system.

Today, Payward holds over 100 licenses and registrations worldwide covering Europe, the Americas, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Arjun Sethi, co-CEO of Payward and Kraken noted that since launching, customers in the UAE will receive the same order book and multi-asset coverage as the company operates in every other market under one of the world's most explicit regulatory frameworks.

The first services launched: TradeSpot Margin and Durham United Arab Emirates

Initially, users in the United Arab Emirates will have access to spot and margin trading with binary options denominated in U.A.E. dirhams; users can deposit and withdraw funds directly in dirham, which may not require another currency to fund their trades anymore.

In June, Kraken partnered with Maple to bring institutional lending protection onto the blockchain through a credit pool backed by digital assets.

Later in September, Nasdaq agreed to invest an additional US$100 million in Payward, giving the parent company a valuation of US$21 billion. Both parties are still working on tokens with targeted launches scheduled for the second quarter.2027

User interface and next steps

End-stage approval is therefore a key condition that makes initial services in the UAE more visible, especially spot and margin trading, derham cash withdrawals, and access to services for institutional clients. Additional products such as crypto derivatives and expanded returns opportunities are still awaiting regulatory approvals in the future.
