Important announcement.
The Digital Sovereignty Alliance (DSA), a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting clear and ethical public policy, research, and education in emerging technologies, announced on October 72026 in Washington D.C., that the full edition report titled "Modern Foundations of Personal Finance: Literacy and Infrastructure in the digital economy " was named one of five winning papers by DC's fintech Weeks[5] Call for Papers and selected as its[6] Featured Research.[6]

The main contents of the research report
The report studies the transition to a digital financial system that is advancing faster than American financial literacy, noting that risk perception is the weakest area of knowledge. It also considers the gaps in understanding and access that are unevenly distributed among households, and concludes that regulation and financial education must advance together.

Selection and scheduling of events
The winning entries were selected from dozens of submissions, which will be published on the event's websitedcfintechweek.org and in an announcement of community events during DC fintech Week,2026 held October 13-162026 in Washington D.C..

Writing team and perspective
The report was written by Molly Woodman, DSA's Senior Policy Advisor as lead author with co-authors Adrian Wall as Managing Director, Emily Ekshian as Content Manager and Maghan Lusk as Policy Associate.

Molly Woodman noted that the DSA thanks DC fintech Week for combining our report with several strong pieces of research: "Most people are still adapting to traditional finance, and now being asked to understand digital assets; good regulation can make these products safer but does not help people understand the risks they carry. We hope this study will encourage policymakers and financial educators to prioritize financial literacy alongside regulation".
