What happened to the new stripes and scales?
Stripe objected to MSCI's proposal that it would remove companies whose digital assets account for at least50% of the total assets from the index, according to a letter sent to MSSI on 4 December.2025 Strife stated that such requirements were too stringent and difficult to enforce, while calling for maintaining guidelines allowing the company to remain eligible.

Why are the requirements50% considered stringent?
MSCI's proposal uses the ratio of digital assets to total company assets as a demarcation point. If a company holds so many cryptocurrencies that it has more than half its assets, the company may be classified more like a fund rather than an actual business enterprise.[citation needed] Strife therefore argues that companies holding bitcoin should not be treated in the same way as venture funds for investment purposes.

How does a bitcoin holding company differ from an investment fund?
A fund is often an instrument that holds assets primarily for investment, whereas a typical company may have revenues from services, goods or infrastructure. Even if there are bitcoins in the budget, if the company has continuous value-creating businesses, exclusion by asset ratios alone might not reflect all operational characteristics.

Mining and financial products are changing corporate image.
Strife further explains that Bitcoin mining companies are expanding their businesses into artificial intelligence infrastructure, while some of the firms run financial products linked to bitcoin. This information makes it unnecessary to view a company as merely a digital asset holder because revenues and business roles can change faster than prescribed.

How does this relate to the reader?
For readers who follow tech companies or digital asset businesses through offshore funds, a change in the index's allocation criteria may affect how certain types of funds bring companies into or out of port, though not by directly pricing them but as a factor that investors often use to track investment flows.

In the Thai context, investors also need to distinguish global standards from domestic regulation of digital asset management. Entry or exit is not a permit or prohibition for doing business in Thailand but may affect image, access to capital and information that compares cross-border companies to those who buy through licensed shopping centers under Office the SEC (Thailand) regulations.

This reflects the fact that regulations for companies holding bitcoin are being debated, with Strife and its CEO Matt Cole wanting to preserve conditions under which firms whose real business is in Bitcoin will continue to be eligible.
